My Morning with God: Ruth 4:16

Me in the midst of it all!

From the Heart of a Mother, the Youngest Sister, and a Lifelong Caregiver.

Ruth 4:15 says, “He shall be to you a restorer of life and a nourisher of your old age, for your daughter-in-law who loves you, who is more to you than seven sons, has given birth to him”.

For so many years, I was the youngest in my family, yet always the caretaker-first for my siblings children then my siblings, and later my own children. Even as the “baby” of the family, I grew up fast . Loosing my mother at age 5 , I was devastated and I began to try to put others in that void . I begin to find myself learning to anticipate needs, offer comfort, and carry burdens that seemed too heavy for my shoulders and some that I should never have taken on but God ! He gave me the wherewithal to do so and the strength to move on even through many failures and pain God would not allow me to quit.

Now, at 63, my children are grown, and the season of constant giving has shifted. For the first time, I sense the Lord gently lifting me, inviting me to receive His care releasing the weight I have carried so long .Like Naomi, who thought her story was over, I am discovering that God is not finished with me yet. He is restoring my soul, bringing new life and unexpected joy into my days.

Naomi’s story in Ruth 4:15 reminds me that God sees those who have quietly served in the background. He honors the sacrifices, the late nights, the tears, and the prayers. When Naomi was emptied by loss, God filled her arms again-this time with a legacy and love she never expected. Her restoration came not through her own striving, but through God’s surprising, faithful provision.

As I step into this new chapter, I hear God’s promise: “I will carry you; I will bear and rescue you” (Isaiah 46:4). It is my time to shine-not because of my own strength, but because the Lord is nourishing me in my age, restoring my joy, and reminding me that I am deeply loved.

If you, too, have spent a lifetime caring for others, know that God delights in caring for you. Let Him restore your life and nourish your soul. This is your season to receive, to be honored, and to shine in His light.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for seeing every act of service and every hidden sacrifice. Restore my soul, nourish my spirit, and let Your love shine through me in this new season. Cleanse the layers of hurt the years has deposited from me from deep within and create in me a clean heart and renew a right Spirit in me Amen!
