Devotional: Strength for the Journey
Isaiah 40:28–31 (NIV)
“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary… those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength.”
A Nurse Navigator’s Reflection
As a Nurse Navigator, I often meet people at their weakest point—when bodies are tired, minds are overwhelmed, and hope feels thin. I guide patients through systems that are complex and exhausting, often while carrying my own fatigue. There are days when I pour out wisdom, advocacy, and compassion, yet feel like my own strength is running low.
Isaiah 40 reminds me of a powerful truth: God does not get weary the way we do. When I reach the end of my capacity, I am not at the end of His. The same God who created the vastness of the universe is intimately aware of the tired nurse, the anxious patient, the caregiver who hasn’t slept.
This passage doesn’t deny exhaustion—it acknowledges it. “Even youths grow tired and weary…” That tells me fatigue is not failure; it’s part of being human. But hope—placed in the Lord—becomes the exchange point. I give Him my weariness, and He renews my strength.
Renewal doesn’t always mean instant rest or fewer responsibilities. Sometimes it looks like fresh endurance, clearer discernment, or the quiet ability to take the next right step. Like a Nurse Navigator guiding a patient through uncertainty, God navigates us through seasons of waiting, trusting, and rising again.
One of my favorites praise songs is Wait on You by Elevation Whorship When I “wait on the Lord,” I’m not doing nothing—I’m trusting Him with what I cannot fix, control, or carry alone. And in that waiting, He lifts me—not just to survive, but to soar. In him is my peace.
Prayer
Lord,
You see the long days, the heavy decisions, and the emotional weight I carry.
When I am tired in body, mind, and spirit, remind me that You never grow weary.
Help me to wait on You—not in fear, but in faith.
Renew my strength so I can continue to serve with wisdom, compassion, and grace.
Teach me when to walk, when to run, and when to simply rest in you. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right Spirit in me . In the mighty name of Jesus ,
Amen.
Navigator’s Takeaway
🩺 Weariness is human. Waiting is holy. Renewal is promised.
When you feel depleted, don’t quit—lift your eyes. Strength is being restored.
