My Morning with God- Proverbs 3:5

Trusting Beyond What You Can See

Scripture: Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”

As a nurse, I have learned that not everything can be understood at first glance. Sometimes a patient looks stable on the outside while a deeper issue is developing beneath the surface. Life can be much the same way.

There are seasons when God allows us to walk paths we do not fully understand. Doors close unexpectedly. Relationships change. Finances tighten. Health challenges arise. Prayers seem delayed. In those moments, our natural response is to search for answers and try to make sense of everything.

Yet Proverbs 3:5 offers a different prescription.

God instructs us to trust Him with all our hearts—not just the parts that are comfortable, but the parts that are fearful, uncertain, and wounded. Trust requires surrender. It means releasing our need to control every outcome and choosing to believe that God sees what we cannot.

The phrase “lean not unto thine own understanding” reminds us that our perspective is limited. We see the moment; God sees the entire journey. We see the problem; God sees the purpose. We see the obstacle; God sees the opportunity for growth.

Trust is not pretending that everything is easy. Trust is believing that God remains faithful even when life is difficult.

Today, if you find yourself carrying unanswered questions, pause and place them in God’s hands. Stop trying to solve every detail before taking the next step. God is not asking you to understand everything. He is asking you to trust Him.

As believers, we must learn that faith often begins where understanding ends.

Nurse Navigator Reflection

When patients receive a treatment plan, they may not understand every medical detail, but they trust the expertise of those caring for them. Likewise, our Heavenly Father is the ultimate Physician. He sees the diagnosis, the treatment plan, and the outcome. Our responsibility is to trust His care.

Prayer

Father, help me trust You beyond what I can see and understand. When fear tries to overwhelm me, remind me that You are already working behind the scenes. Strengthen my faith, calm my anxious thoughts, and teach me to rest in Your wisdom. Today I choose to trust You with all my heart. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right in me . In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Today’s Challenge

Identify one area of your life where you have been leaning on your own understanding. Surrender it to God in prayer and trust Him to guide your next step.
