Devotional on Romans 8:9
“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.”
My Reflection
When I read Romans 8:9, I can’t help but pause and remember that my identity is not rooted in my flesh but in the Spirit of God that dwells in me. After all the seasons I have walked through—pain, loss, resilience, and victory—I see how much my flesh would have failed me if it were not for the Spirit guiding me.
There were moments when discouragement tried to overtake me, when grief whispered that I would not recover, and when my own strength felt so limited. But the Spirit of God living in me gave me peace, reminded me of my worth, and kept me pressing forward. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead is alive in me, and that truth changes everything about how I see myself and my circumstances.
Life Application
This verse is a reminder that I don’t have to operate by my own ability. When I lean on the Spirit:
• My thoughts are renewed.
• My steps are ordered.
• My decisions are Spirit-led, not flesh-driven.
This helps me as a mother, a nurse, a coach, and a businesswoman. My flesh says, “You are tired.” But the Spirit says, “You are equipped.” My flesh says, “You’ve been through too much.” But the Spirit says, “Your story is fuel for others’ healing.”
Prayer
Good morning Holy Spirit , I acknowledge you as the leading part of the trinity that dwells in me . Lord, thank You for the gift of Your Spirit that dwells in me. Teach me daily to walk in that Spirit and not in my flesh. Let my thoughts, words, and actions be aligned with who I am in You. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me .Strengthen me to remember that I belong to You, and because of that, I lack nothing. Lord, I ask that you cover this country from my household to the White House. I ask that you cover the world as it is going through such a turmoil in many countries, such as Nigeria . I know they suffer at the hands of the leader ship as well, but we know that you are yet on the throne and at any time can intervene on our behalf. . so I ask you to surround your people with your protection, your provisions, and your love I give you praise I’ll give you, honor and all the glory. In Jesus, precious name Amen.
