Devotional: The Open Door
Scripture: “I know your deeds. See, I have placed before you an open door that no one can shut. I know that you have little strength, yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” — Revelation 3:8 (NIV)
Reflection
When I read this verse, I hear the Lord affirming not just my faith but also my diligence. As a nurse, a leader, and now a navigator guiding others into business and purpose, I know what it means to press forward even when strength feels low. God’s Word reminds me that He sees every act of perseverance, every decision made with integrity, and every step taken in obedience.
Professionally, doors open and close all the time—opportunities, contracts, promotions, or even the chance to influence others through mentorship. Sometimes those doors shut before I feel ready, and other times they swing open when I least expect it. But this verse reminds me that when God opens a door, it is secured by His authority, not by human approval. No competitor, critic, or circumstance can close what He has ordained.
This speaks to my journey as a professional and as a woman of faith: it is not about having endless strength but about being steadfast. Even in my “little strength,” God counts my obedience and faithfulness as powerful. The open doors He gives are not dependent on me striving in my own ability but on me walking in His divine favor.
Application
• In your career: Approach each opportunity with excellence, but release the pressure of control. The right door for your assignment has already been marked by God.
• In your faith: Keep His Word close. Don’t compromise your values for quick gains or temporary recognition.
• In your mindset: Carry yourself knowing that the open door before you is a divine appointment. You don’t need to force it open, and you don’t need to fear it closing.
Prayer
Father, thank You for seeing my faithfulness even when my strength feels small. Thank You for placing before me doors that no one can shut. Help me to walk boldly and professionally into every opportunity You’ve ordained, knowing that my work, my leadership, and my calling are guided by Your hand. Create in me a clean heart and renew in me a right Spirit In Jesus’ name, Amen.
