My Morning with God- Psalms 27:1-3

Devotional: The Lord Is My Light

Scripture:

“The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?

The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?

When the wicked advance against me to devour me,

it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall.

Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear;

though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.”

—Psalm 27:1-3 (NIV)

Reflection from My Heart

There were times in my life when I stood at the edge of fear and uncertainty, holding the hands of my two daughters, Anouncia and Tanesha, not knowing how the next bill would be paid or where the strength would come from. Being a single mother was never easy. The weight of responsibility felt like an army pressing against me, whispering doubt and reminding me of everything I lacked.

But in those moments, I leaned on the truth of Psalm 27: “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear?” God was faithful. He gave me courage when I had none of my own. He lit the path when it seemed darkness surrounded me. He was the stronghold I could run to when the storms of life threatened to overwhelm me.

I watched Him provide for my girls in ways that only He could. Groceries would show up when the cupboards were bare, doors of opportunity opened at the exact moment we needed them, and peace covered us in the night when worry tried to steal our rest.

Raising Anouncia and Tanesha taught me what it meant to trust God’s promises wholeheartedly. Each challenge became a testimony of His faithfulness. I learned that no enemy—whether fear, lack, or loneliness—could stand against the power of God’s hand over our lives.

My Confession of Faith

Today, I declare with boldness:

• The Lord is my light; I will not stumble in darkness.

• The Lord is my salvation; I will not be consumed by fear.

• The Lord is the stronghold of my life; my confidence is secure in Him.

Just as He carried me through the hardest seasons of being a single mother, He will continue to be faithful in every season to come.

Prayer

Father, thank You for being my light when life felt dark and uncertain. Thank You for covering me with Your salvation and surrounding my family with Your protection. I praise You for the testimony of Your faithfulness in raising Anouncia and Tanesha. Remind me daily that no matter what comes against me, I have nothing to fear, for You are my stronghold and my confidence. I pray that you continue to create in me a clean heart, and renew a right spirit within me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
