Scripture Reading: Psalm 27 (KJV)
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” — Psalm 27:1
Devotional Thought
There’s something sacred about the quiet moments before the world fully awakens—the stillness, the hush, the space where my soul leans in to hear the whisper of God. Mornings are when I gather my strength, not from the caffeine in my cup, but from the One who strengthens my heart.
Psalm 27 reminds me that no matter what I face—whether it’s decisions to make for my home care clients, challenges with leadership, or navigating the terrain of being a mother, a mentor, or a businesswoman—the Lord is my light. When I don’t know which way to go, He illuminates my path. When fear tries to creep in through uncertainty or setbacks, He reminds me that He is my salvation, not just eternally, but daily.
In verse 4, David said, “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life…” That speaks to my soul. Yes, I’m a nurse, an entrepreneur, and a teacher—but above all, I’m a worshiper. My truest desire is not just success or solutions, but His presence. That’s where I find my peace. That’s where I gain wisdom for every patient, every client, every business decision.
Some mornings I wake up with a heavy heart—grief from my past, burdens for my family, or weariness from carrying so much. But Psalm 27:13 anchors me:
“I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.”
I believe I will see His goodness. Not just in heaven, but here. In my home. In my business. In my daughters. In the generations I’m impacting by walking in obedience.
So as I rise today, I don’t just make my to-do list—I make room. Room for God to guide, to correct, to pour out, to carry me. This is my morning with God. Not a ritual, but a refuge. And in His presence, I lack nothing.
Morning Prayer
Father,
Thank You for meeting me here today. Thank You for being my light in dark places, my strength when I feel weak, and my salvation when I need rescue. Teach me to seek Your face above all else. Let Your presence lead every step I take today. May I reflect Your love in my words, my care, and my decisions. I trust that I will see Your goodness today—and I wait with expectation.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection Prompt
What am I believing God for today? Where do I need to trade fear for faith and let His light shine in?
