My Morning with God-Ps. 23rd-

We discussed and delved into this passage of scripture this past Sunday. I wanted to recap it for us here. Verse 1 and 2 speak to who the Lord is in the believer's life, but it also refers to  us in the Word numerous times as his sheep. Have you ever noticed the characteristics of sheep? They are naïve and limited in their knowledge of danger. They require a shepherd to lead them to the right pastures. To lead us to still waters, mind you not rushing water that could wash us in or be on dangerous footing.

Verse 3 and 4 tell us he restoreth our souls from the cares and hassles we endure in our travels through life. Regardless of what we have been through he has the capacity to restore our souls. Even in times of pending doom or threats of death, he is there with us with his mighty tools of valor to protect us. So we are not afraid as long as we remain with the shepherd. This speaks to why we need to seek the approval and guidance of the Holy Spirit before advancing into unknown territory.

Verses 5 and 6 say how he preparest a table for me in the presence of my enemies. They dare not accost me for my shepherd is there to take them out! He anointest my head with oil. This anointing prevents the rodents of life from sticking to us and causing us harm. We can feel assured that his goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life. So the is continuous and forever.

Dear heavenly Father, we thank you for all of your grace and mercies that are new every morning. I thank you so much for all your goodness. We are here to give you praise and honor. I feel so grateful to be one of your sheep. Minister to me my Father as I sit here with you. Allow me to lay in your presence. I want a defined relationship with you. I desire an intimate relationship with you so that I am one of the sheep who remains close to the shepherd. I desire to be in a position to hear you. We love you and praise you in Jesus' name amen.
