“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” – Proverbs 3:5 (KJV)
As a nurse with over forty years of walking hospital halls and comforting patients in their most vulnerable moments, I’ve seen situations that didn’t make sense. I’ve watched vitals stabilize when medicine said they wouldn’t. I’ve seen families reconcile at deathbeds. I’ve held trembling hands of patients whose faith was the only thing holding them together.
This scripture, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding,” reminds me that even after decades of clinical knowledge, leadership, and life experiences, there are matters that go beyond human comprehension. There are seasons God asks me to trust Him with my whole heart – not my credentials, not my logic, not my “I’ve got this handled” mindset – but my whole surrendered heart.
In this season of entrepreneurship, teaching others to build businesses, helping people navigate care, and mentoring future leaders, I still encounter unknowns. Some days, despite all my plans, things shift unexpectedly. But Proverbs 3:5 anchors me:
➡️ My role is not to figure it all out.
➡️ My role is to trust Him while He works it out.
Trust is deeper than mental assent. It’s resting, even when my understanding fights for control. It’s knowing that the same God who guided me through grief, single motherhood, and career changes will continue to guide me into purpose, impact, and legacy.
Today, dear reader, I encourage you – whether you’re caring for patients, building your business, or waiting on God to move in a silent place – let go of leaning on your understanding. Trust Him with all your heart. He knows what you do not, and His ways are always faithful.
Prayer:
Father, today I choose to trust You with all my heart. Help me to release my need to understand every detail. Remind me that You see the beginning and the end, and Your plans for me are good. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right Spirit with in me . Strengthen my faith to stand firm, knowing You will never leave nor fail me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Amen 🙏
God, I know you have a better plan for me, please change my life story and put me in better place, Amen 🙏
