God’s Journey to the Cross
“And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.” — John 19:3 (KJV)
Reflection:
After joining my pastor this morning in our devotional, I continue to read and pray. Below, you will find the devotional in my time this morning with God. The true reflection on the cross, although it was extremely painful for Jesus as the as the description reveals but his reward at the end of the pain was so great!
In my living, I have learned that pain has a purpose, but the God we serve also makes pain repay you if we just endure!
In John 19:3, Jesus is mocked and beaten by Roman soldiers. This moment is not just about human cruelty; it is a profound display of Christ’s humility and obedience. Though He is the true King, Jesus endures humiliation and suffering, fulfilling the path set before Him by the Father. The journey to the cross began in Gethsemane, where Jesus prayed in deep anguish, yet submitted to God’s will (Matthew 26:36–38). He was betrayed, arrested, judged, and condemned—each step marked by rejection and pain, yet also by unwavering love for humanity.
The Cross and the Resurrection:
Jesus’ suffering and death were not the end. The journey to the cross culminated in the resurrection, which is the foundation of Christian hope. The resurrection proves that Jesus is who He claimed to be—Lord over sin and death—and assures us that His sacrifice truly accomplished our salvation.
Scriptures that Substantiate the Resurrection:
• Matthew 28:5–6: “He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.”
• Luke 24:6–7: “He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you…”
• John 20:1–18: The risen Jesus appears to Mary Magdalene.
• 1 Corinthians 15:3–4: “Christ died for our sins… he was buried… he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures.”
• Acts 2:32: “God has raised this Jesus to life, and we are all witnesses of it.”
Let’s Pray:
Lord Jesus, thank You for enduring the cross and all its shame for my sake. Help me never to take lightly the cost of my salvation. Fill my heart with gratitude for Your sacrifice and hope in Your resurrection. May I walk each day in the assurance that because You live, I too shall live. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right Spirit within me. Let me never forget the promises of God that all things not some, but all will work together for my good. Amen
