My Morning with God- Gen 12: 1-4

Get Up, Bucko!

Genesis 12:1–4

Written by Catherine Pickett, RN, Nurse Navigator & Certified Coach Gleaned from the message taught by Minister Shadana Langford, City Worship Center on March 22,2026. I have been off the blog for a while and I apologize, you know life be lifeing but lets get into it!

There comes a moment in all of our lives when God gives a command that feels… incomplete.

No full blueprint. No step-by-step instructions. No “how-to” manual.

Just a word: “Go.”

In Genesis 12:1–4, God tells Abram to leave everything familiar—his country, his people, and his father’s household—and go to a land that God would show him.

Not has shown him. Not mapped out for him. But would show him.

That right there is where faith begins.

Faith Often Begins with Incomplete Information

As a Nurse Navigator, I’m trained to guide people through systems with clarity, planning, and coordination. We gather data. We make informed decisions.

But God doesn’t always operate like a clinical protocol.

Sometimes He gives you just enough to move—but not enough to feel comfortable.

And that’s intentional.

Because if we had all the details, we wouldn’t need faith.

Obedience Doesn’t Mean You Won’t Make a Wrong Turn

Abram obeyed—but his journey wasn’t perfect.

And neither will yours be.

Let’s be clear: Obedience is not perfection.

You can follow God and still have moments where you misstep, question, or even take a detour.

But here’s the good news:Detours don’t cancel destiny.

Obedience Positions You for the Promise

Abram didn’t have the full picture, but he had enough to take the next step.

And because he moved, God moved.

There are some things God has already spoken over your life—but they are waiting on your yes.

Not your understanding. Not your comfort. Your obedience.

God Will Call You Before You’re Ready

Let me say this plainly:

You will not feel ready. You will not feel qualified. You will not feel equipped.

And that’s okay.

Because God never called the ready—He makes ready the called.

Faith Doesn’t Mean There Won’t Be Detours

Abram’s journey included famine, fear, and moments of uncertainty.

Sound familiar?

Sometimes we think if God said it, it should be smooth.

But faith is not proven in ease—it’s proven in endurance.

God Will Change Your Name Before He Changes Your Circumstances

Abram became Abraham before the promise fully manifested.

God shifted his identity before He shifted his environment.

And that’s what He does with us.

He calls you who you are becoming—while you’re still standing in what doesn’t look like it.

So… Get Up, Bucko!

That phrase may sound simple, even a little playful—but it’s deeply prophetic.

It’s a call to movement. A call to trust. A call to stop waiting for clarity and start walking in obedience.

Because everything you need won’t come before you move—some of it will meet you on the way.

Nurse Navigator Reflection

In healthcare, we don’t wait until a patient has all the answers before we begin treatment—we move with what we know and adjust along the way.

Faith works the same way.

God is not asking you to have it all figured out. He’s asking you to get up and go.

Final Thought

What has God told you to do that you’ve been waiting to fully understand before obeying?

Maybe today isn’t about getting more answers.

Maybe today is about movement.

Get up, Bucko.
