“Covered with Honor”
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12:23–24 (KJV)
“And those members of the body, which we think to be less honourable, upon these we bestow more abundant honour; and our uncomely parts have more abundant comeliness.
For our comely parts have no need: but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked.”
From My Heart:
I’ve walked with people whose pain didn’t have language. I’ve cared for patients society forgot, mentored women who felt unworthy, and buried my own child with tears only heaven fully understood. And over time, I’ve come to see the sacred truth of this Scripture—not in theory, but in lived experience.
There were seasons in my life I felt like one of those “less honorable” parts—hidden, discarded, unseen. A motherless child, a grieving young mom, a woman trying to smile while her soul begged for rescue. But God…
He didn’t discard me.
He covered me.
He took my uncomely parts—the parts I was ashamed of, the parts I zipped up—and clothed them with abundant honor. Not the kind the world gives, but the kind only Heaven can bestow.
As a nurse, I’ve seen this scripture play out in bodies too: the parts we cover and protect most tenderly are often the most vital. The heart, the lungs, the womb. Isn’t it just like God to honor what we try to hide?
Now, in my later years, I understand that those seasons of pain didn’t disqualify me—they prepared me. God tempered my life, blending loss and grace, fire and healing, until I could stand with compassion, not judgment. Until I could serve with empathy, not ego. Something I have learned is that God has a distinct way of making pain pay for the hurt it caused.
So if you’re feeling like the forgotten part of the body today—the one nobody sees or celebrates—know this:
God sees. God honors. And He covers you with comeliness.
🙏🏽 Prayer:
Lord, thank You for honoring the hidden parts of my story. Thank You for seeing value in what others overlook. Teach me to walk with grace and to cover others in compassion, just as You’ve covered me. May I never forget that in Your kingdom, even the least is treasured. Create in me a clean heart and renew a right Spirit in me,Amen.
